All is not lost though! In fact, many are being awakened to the beauty of being globally connected. Although nothing can replace face-to-face chats, we have been hearing about (and experiencing personally) some creative ways to continue to engage those who don’t know Jesus yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a lot more time on your hands and some awesome free apps, now is the time to learn Italian or Arabic. One of the free apps is called HelloTalk<\/a>. This app basically acts as a connector for virtual language exchange. Its well designed and if your first language is English, you shouldn’t have any problem finding someone to chat with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The beauty in this is you can make new friends in other countries and share about your faith naturally. It’s also cool because after all this Coronavirus stuff calms down and we all can travel again, you just may get some invitations to your new friend’s countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s really win-win. \u00c1nimo amigos!<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s no surprise we love Alpha Course<\/a> here at YWAM Beyond and encourage anyone and everyone to start one or be a part of one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Alpha has launched Alpha Online<\/a>, which helps you facilitate an Alpha, er..online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A big part of Alpha is of course meeting together over a meal and watching videos together. Some people have shown creativity in this, by eating in front of their webcams together. Alpha stresses that you can still show hospitality and love by communicating and checking in on your group even more than usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The virtual meetings can be done all through Zoom, Skype, or Google Hangouts. The beauty of this method is our virtual pool of potential people that are interested in Jesus can be bigger than our local physical pool and we can even invite people in other countries!<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’ve been on outreach, chances are you now have Whatsapp! It’s pretty popular outside the USA. Perhaps you made a local friend on outreach and maintain contact with them sometimes through the app. Why not reach out to him\/her and ask if they’d be interested in studying about Jesus? And even further, why not ask if they want to invite some of their friends in the group?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Video calls\u2014If your friend says yes, just schedule a good time in their timezone and yours. You can even do video calls on Whatsapp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Find a Discovery Journey on startadbs.com<\/a> and follow the simple framework for the DBS model. One tip if you are choosing your own passages, keep the passages short so you don’t overwhelm your friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the end of the day if you do any of these you may learn a language, develop deeper cross-cultural friendships, and lead someone to walk with Jesus! <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you have done a DTS and now are back home, you still probably carry this DNA to love those who don’t know Jesus and share about him.
