Darlene Cunningham, co-founder of YWAM, brings a message that God has placed on her heart about being in a season of pruning. She mentioned she is about to release a book called “Values Matter” about how Values shaped YWAM.
Key takeaways for YWAMers Beyond the base:
Pruning is really important for fruitfulness!
This is an opportunity to reevaluate ministry (and life) like never before. Are there things we need to cut off like dead unfruitful wood?
Getting rid of dead or unfruitful wood also protects us from “disease”.
When the tree is pruned it takes away many of the branches and brings strength to the rooting system.
With the belief tree, we know the roots are our beliefs. In this season, lets prune the branches and focus on the roots!
Pruning also strengthens the whole structure. After this season of pruning, YWAM will look different.
Pruning allows the light and oxygen come in, the branches are not rubbing each other, there is more space for the light and then there is great fruit.
Allowing light to shine on a pruned tree, allows it to hit areas of moisture that could create mildew and cause issues in growth. Let the light through!
We probably all are appreciating one another because we can’t actually meet physically now! As we allow for pruning and the light to come in the disease of disunity will be destroyed. There will be no room for offense in the heart when we let the light in.
Darlene is believing for a greater understanding of how we apply the Christian magna carta and how to be missionaries in the Spheres. Even now there are new ministries being birthed during this time.
Be encouraged! God the father is the loving gardener. We are the branch that is grafted into Jesus. Any pruning the Father does for us is so we can be even more fruitful!
She misses all you YWAMers even more when she can’t travel to see you on and off the base.
